DANNY SCORES A TOP 5 AT CONCORD!

The Shred 360 Monte Carlo with Danny aboard competed in it’s second race of the season at Concord Motorsports Park Saturday night. Over the past week Danny said “My crew and I re-analyzed the car and made some changes on the set up” Progress was evident as Danny finished 5th in a strong field of 16 cars for the first Late Model feature.

Danny said “The car was much improved but I still was not as fast as the top 4 cars. I could hang on to them but could not challenge them. I had my hands full the last 5 laps with the cars behind me. We are very encouraged and I now know that with more improvements we can make the car more competitive.”
Concord ran a second feature to make up for previous postponed races. Danny started from the pole but the crew made some changes to the car that did not work and Danny had to settle for 7th place.

The DER team still has a mid-season goal of being able to challenge for wins, and it looks like they are fast approaching that goal!! They will work hard on the set up during the two weeks off and be back to race again at Concord on May 12th! Hope to see you there.

Danny ran his first race at Concord Motorsports Park on Saturday night in the Shred 360 Monte Carlo. With heavy rain threatening the officials rushed to get in the scheduled program of practice, qualifying and two feature races. The first race went the distance with no caution flags – green from start to finish. The rains arrived and washed out the second race.
In the 17 car field Danny qualified 12th but immediately moved to 10th on the start. The car developed a push on lap 6 and Danny dropped to 13th where he finished.

After the race Danny was extremely disappointed but on reflection he noted “ these are the best drivers and cars we have run against and that is the reason we came here. We made a mistake on the tires but still we qualified just 3 tenths off the pole and ran exactly the same times as the winner the entire last half of the race. We ‘ll get the car better as the season goes on. Our goal is to get consistently in the top 5 by mid-season and hopefully win races by the end of the season. I believe we can do this because we seem to have the power and just need small adjustments to the car. And I’ll learn the track better each time I go out . But it sure was good to get back in the race car!” Danny quipped with a smile!!

Danny and the DER team look forward to next week at Concord. – Saturday April 21st is the next race – see ya there.
