Danny has Great Qualifying at Gateway!

Thanks to Johnny Davis Motorsports Danny qualified for his 2nd start in the NASCAR Busch series at Gateway International Raceway on Saturday, July 21st. After learning the track in a very successful practice session Danny qualified 33rd immediatly behind Mike Wallace's GEICO Chevy and ahead of the Kevin Harvick Camping World Chevrolet. Danny would have liked to actually race the car as this was a track he really felt comfortable on, but without sponsorship the team owner decided to pull the car in after taking the green flag. A disappointed Danny said "The team's sponsored driver has crashed 3 cars in the last 3 weeks and the car I was driving is needed for the next race without too many laps on it. I understand completely the situation the team is in. I just hope that our hard work towards finding sponsorship for my car pays off soon. I am getting great experience and look forward to racing a full race behind the wheel of a Johnny Davis Chevrolet."

In the meantime Danny will be competing locally in his family's late models.

Saturday night Danny finished 4th at Dillon Motor Speedway in a very strong field of 20 late models. After a 3 hour rain delay, Danny started in 12th place for his first race at Ron Barfield's excellent new track. After avoiding the ususal short track mishaps the familiar #07 car was in 4th place the last 35 laps. The top 5 were nose to tail, sometimes pushing each other. "This was great, I had fun out there tonight" said Danny after the race,"This is a tough track to pass on, several times I got up along side the car in front of me but I would probably have had to wreck him to complete the pass and I was not going to do that. All of us in the top 5 drove each other very clean." he added " I can't wait to come back here!"

Danny Efland competed in his first NASCAR Busch series race Saturday in New Hampshire. Danny drove the Johnny Davis Motorsports #01 Monte Carlo in the Camping World 200. After qualifying the car 36th fastest in a field that included 20 Nextel Cup drivers, Danny and the crew were very excited. At the start of the race Danny settled into a comfortable 33rd position until the first caution flag. By lap 27 the car had begun to tighten up and the team owner decided that Danny had demonstrated his capabilities and he should pull the car into the garage before the handling of the car caused a problem on the track.
After the race Danny said “ I want to thank Johnny Davis and his crew for giving me this opportunity. Running with these guys is something I knew I could do but Johnny gave me the chance to show it. He said he was very happy with my effort and that he would put me back in the car. I had so much fun behind the wheel and I can’t wait to do it again!”
