Last Saturday night – July 26, 2008 – saw Danny in his first effort at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. Danny qualified the Johnny Davis Motor Sports #01 Chevy Impala for the race and immediately began moving up through the field. On a restart at about lap 20, the number 9 car tagged Danny creating rear spoiler damage. Danny brought his car to the attention of the pit crew but lost a total of 5 laps in the pits while correcting damage. Danny finished the race in 31st position - his highest yet- but we can only dream about what the finish would have been.
JDM now moves to 2 road course events where Danny is not scheduled to drive but will go on a stand by basis. The next scheduled race is the 2 mile track at Michigan. That start is contingent on NASCAR approval for 2 mile speedways but indications are that approval will be granted. Danny and the crew are looking forward to that race. Danny will be back in the car he drove at Chicago – one that he likes.
Last week at the St. Louis track, a failed engine valve part caused a short race after moving speedily though the pack at the start.

See you at the races!

NASCAR NATIONWIDE UPDATE

Danny Efland has agreed to race the #01 Chevy Impala belonging to JD Motor Sports for the immediate future.

“This is a great opportunity” stated Danny, “This is what I have been working for. It will probably take a few races before we are a real team and our results begin to show. I am working in the shop on my cars doing the set up work so I have a lot on my plate! JDM has been using various drivers since Kertus Davis left earlier during the year but now I will be the driver.”

Danny ran the first entire race in the #01 car at Chicago last week with a 33rd place finish in spite of losing 2 laps when the caution came out during a green flag pit stop and another 3 laps when miscalculations lead to running the car out of gas near the end of the race. “All things considered,” said Danny “it was very successful. This was my first full race and we have a few bugs to work out”

The team has put together a ‘new to them’ car for the Gateway race near St. Louis this weekend and Danny is looking forward to racing it.
